Today in India Point Park I saw a flooded field (kinda like the one in the picture only BETTER.) I just kept thinking about how badly I wanted to build a little boat out of something and do a photo shoot with it. It was a really amazing effect to have a two inch deep lake that seemed to go much deeper, along with realistically sized trees, massive in comparison. If I hadn’t already started my painting, I would have been very tempted to build a mini-boat.

After seeing Degas’ Woman in the Bath on Angela’s Blog, I was reminded of how much I love this drawing. Degas’ use of color is smart and conservative. While the human form (the woman) has the warmest colors, we also see a bit of the warmth reflected in the blue bath, and a bit of the blue from the surrounding room reflected in her back.

Will Ferrell and his 2 year old daughter during the writers strike.

Timmy’s post on Adi’s post about the tallest man reminded me of this picture of a mini cowgirl and her mini cow. Mini cows actually do exist. They eat the same amount as a normal cow but produce only half the meat. I think this picture is interesting because both the cowgirl and the cow could be life sized (adult sized) but it’s all miniature.

Claire’s post about Ralph Steadman reminded me about when she trying to remember Steadman’s name and I was randomly ranting about R Crumb. Although the two artists share a somewhat common audience, Crumb’s illustrations are definitely more perverse. He is a dirty old man.
